Advanced Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Strengthen and develop your ability to initiate and support behaviour change in others. This experiential workshop is designed to build on the foundations of MI and take your practice to the next level.
The workshop is suitable for people who have completed a foundational training in Motivational Interviewing (MI). The focus will be on extending MI Skills to enable participants to practice at an advanced level. Opportunities for supported practice and feedback to participants will be provided. It is appropriate for health professionals, teachers, community workers and others who work with people struggling with change.
The workshop will assist participants to:
Review the main concepts of MI.
Develop advanced listening skills
Understand the importance of affirmation
Evoke and respond to change talk
Actively manage sustain/resistance talk
