Course Overview: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency technique used to treat individuals who have gone into cardiac arrest. CPR can be performed by health care professionals or by a suitably trained lay person. This short course will provide an overview of the knowledge and skills required to perform adult basic life support. The content of this course is based on current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.
Course Objective: By the end of this course the student will be able to:
1. Identify the signs of cardio-respiratory arrest in a collapsed individual.
2. Identify the correct steps in assessing a collapsed individual.
3. Be familiar with the techniques of rescue breaths and chest compressions.
